December Faves

So I finally bit the bullet and went to the doctor to find out that I have an ear infection.  :-\  Totally caught it from my youngest niece, but I still love her.

It’s that time for my monthly favorites.

I love the month of December.  I love the holidays, so naturally my first favorite thing for the month is spending time with friends and family.  Christmas get togethers (tons of eating, qt, and gossiping 😛 ), lunch and dinners with friends, qt with my mom and sister plus going on a cruise with my in laws.  LOVE LOVE LOVE my time spent at home.

For the past two Decembers, the hubs and I were greeted with snow when we went home, which prompted us to shovel.  AGH!  Something that we both don’t enjoy and hate about now, but not this year.  So, YAY to no snow in VA.

After watching Dulcecandy’s and family friend, Dotlash’s reviews of the Lush color supplement, I had to pick it up.  Mix it with some daily moisturizer and blemishes aren’t as noticeable plus your face just looks and feels refreshed.  I LOVE it as much as my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.  But I do want to add that it doesn’t have the same coverage as Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer or that of a foundation.  So if you’re looking for something for more coverage, this may not be for you.

While at Lush, I also picked up some lip scrub which is so necessary right now especially with the cold weather.  It takes off the dead skin on your lips and makes it feel so soft.  Pair it with some great lip balm and you’ll have smooth kissable lips!

Griffin loop iPad stand.  My hubs and sister know I carry around my iPad into the kitchen to look at recipes while cooking.  Well they must have been talking to my sister in-law because she got me this loop iPad stand for Christmas.  I love it!  My case isn’t as sturdy as it used to be, so I have to rest my iPad on some sort of appliance or wall when in the kitchen.  Now this gadget is in my kitchen for the next time I use it to create some goodies for this blog!

Michael Kors watch in Rose Gold.  I’ve been on a hunt for this watch and missed the Nordstrom semi-annual sale when it was almost half off!  My sister and husband must have heard me talking about this watch non-stop that on Christmas day my sister gifted me with this beaut!  AWWWW!  She loves me.  I haven’t worn it yet because I have to resize it.  It’s pretty big on my tiny wrists but I still LOVE it.

Galaxy Nexus.  THE Google phone.  WHOOHOO!  I was so indecisive about getting this phone for about 2 weeks.  The husband kept asking me if I wanted it and if I did then we’d just get each other these phones for Christmas.  This was a pre-Christmas present.  The phone came out on December 15th and we fell in line but thankfully the hubs reserved us some phone the day before so we were only out there for a short period of time.  I LOVE it (along with all my gifts and December favorites).  It’s a pretty big phone and looks like I’m holding a mini e-reader sometimes because I’m so petite.  But it’s just AWESOME.  I use a lot of Google products to keep myself organize, so this phone for me was a bit more beneficial than an iPhone (which I totally contemplated about getting).

What were your favorite things for the month of December?  What were your favorite presents?  Comment below.

Faves

I haven’t done a post about my most recent favorite items in a while.  I think I haven’t done one since August.  I’m going to try to keep this list somewhat short so there isn’t too long of a list.

August

The first one is obvious.  VACATION and spending time with the hubs and then seeing family afterwards.  Two weeks of vacation was just what the Doctor prescribed.

During vacation, we loaded the first season of Modern Family on my iPad and fell in LOVE with the show.  It’s definitely a must see!  As soon as we got home, we got season two and watched that.  LOVE IT!

Toms!  Yes another pair.  This style is called the Cordones.  They remind me of Keds but a tad more stylish.  I got these right before the Europe trip but unfortunately did not break them in prior to the trip, so they did hurt my feet a little.  😦

September

Wet and Wild Comfort Zone Palette.  CVS was having a sale and I picked this up.  I don’t have any greens in my personal make-up kit.  I was hesitant to get a Wet and Wild Palette but after reading blog and watching YT reviews, they mentioned that the formula was quite velvety and creamy… and they are!  This palette is PERFECT for fall.

Milani Liquif’eye.  Again, I heard so much good stuff about this eyeliner that I had to try it out.  This comes out so creamy and pigmented but I go through it so quickly.  Perhaps I’m applying it too hard.  Are any of you running into that problem?

Fall programming.  TV Junkie.  I have shows that I record almost everyday of the week except for Friday and sometimes Saturday.  I’m continuing to watch Glee, How to Make it in America, L&O:  SVU, but am starting to watch Pan Am, Modern Family (like I stated above), X-Factor, Once Upon A Time, and the New Girl.  My evenings are packed with my shows, as I work on work.  :-\

October

Stila Jade Blossom Dry Shampoo.  This is pricey and I wouldn’t have purchased it if it weren’t for the Stila Friends and Family sale.  I’ve tried Tresseme Dry Shampoo but it doesn’t work for me.  30 minutes later my hair was greasy again.  But this works!  It leaves my hair looking clean for the ENTIRE day without the need to reapply.  LOVE!

H&M Leopard Scarf.  I’ve been on the hunt for a leopard scarf for the last year and a half.  I was at H&M when they had their 25% sale off a single item and found it.  It was PERFECT!  The length, the color, the size of the animal print.  Everything I wanted but it was “pricier” that I would like.  It was $13… I usually don’t pay more than $5 for my scarfs (both in the UK and in the states), but I decided it was definitely going to be a staple in my closet so it was worth it.  Note:  Sorry I don’t have a picture of this.  I think I have an upcoming lookbook post with the scarf on.

I’m sure I have more but I didn’t bombard you with TOO long of a list.  What have been your favorite items these past couple of months?

Birthday Wish List

I should’ve probably drafted this post before I left and scheduled it but things were a tad hectic right before we left for our vacation.

I haven’t/didn’t really ask for anything for my birthday.  Not even from the husband, since we agreed that we’d do a joint/split birthday gift (since our birthdays are two weeks apart), similar to what we did last year.  Last year, it was a computer.  This year, it was our vacation.  But I’m pretty easy to please.  Cookbook or magazine (especially cooking, fitness, and fashion) subscription and I’m happy.

But here are a couple things that I’d probably ask for… but would end up getting it for myself because that’s just what I do.  😛  A lot of these are make-up items because I’m on a beauty junkie kick.

Make-up Brush Set from either or these companies:

Sedona Lace

Sigma

Neutral Eye Make-up Pallete from either

Urban Decay

Too Faced

Liquid Liner from either brands

Urban Decay

Milani

Make-up Class (Eleesa from pursebuzz and Koren from enkoremakeup will be in San Jose in November!)

Cooking Class to get some sort of training of the basics and figure out if I’d like to pursue cooking more.  Maybe even a healthy/nutritional cooking class.

Dutch Oven.  Not necessarily Le Cruset but it would be nice.  I don’t mind getting a smaller size.  The husband and I like to eat but we’re not big eaters.

DSLR.  Should’ve gotten this one before our trip, but I figured my point and shoot would hold up.  It was glitchy on me.  The lens starts shaking when I turn it on and you can just hear the motor running.  We were still able to take nice pictures since we brought our other camera… but the hubs showed me a nice one at Best Buy before we left that I am now coveting.

Cookbooks… preferably in e-book format to get use out of my iPad.  Ones I’m coveting right now are Ottolenghi, Eva’s Kitchen, Pioneer Woman, Rocco Dispirito’s Now Eat This Diet, and My Father’s Daughter.

Gift cards from some of my favorite stores.

Wine and dine date.  Feed me and give me an alcoholic bevvie and I will be your bestest friend for life.

The usual hug and a smile.  Best one!

What’s on your birthday wish list?
