Silver Lining

The buzz has been about Jennifer Lawrence and her gorgeous Dior Couture gown, which she notoriously tripped over (Rachel Zoe and Dior’s tailor, what’s up with that?!?), but took in stride and laughed it off.  (Love people with a sense of humor.)  But what people are not talking about is her sleek and sexy silver Calvin Klein after-party dress.  Simple yet bold.  Love it.

It reminds me a of a dress I wore to a formal event in 2005, but I looked nowhere near as gorgeous or flawless as she does.  I tried to rummage through my computer files thinking I would be able to find a good shot of said dress, but I could not thankfully.  My dress had more of an a-line feel to it as it was a prom dress which I purchased at a thrift shop for a mere $5.  While it wasn’t a designer dress, it fit the bill for a college formal event.  At the time, I was thinking about hemming it and making it shorter, but I’m glad I didn’t.  There’s a certain elegance about a long silver gown.  Simple but has an impact because of the sheen.

Here are a couple of some other silver gowns that I was loving the night of the Oscar’s.

Michelle Obama in Naeema Khan.

Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan as well.  I just LOVE this dress.  She was styled by a former Rachel Zoe assistant, Brad Goreski.  Bravo pick Brad.  The dress, her hair, her make up, and her accessories, perfection.  Kind of like her Oscars’ look last year.

With these dresses as inspiration, I may just get a silver dress for my big 3-0 bday this summer.  Hmmm… Something about dazzling as I enter my 30s.  Corny, I know.
