Trippin’ – what’s in my toiletry bag? part 1

I thought I would have all my outfits planned out for our trip ahead of time (Yes, it’s a couple of weeks away, but I’m type A and need to plan way in advance even though it never fails that I change everything up last minute.  😛 ), but I don’t.  I’m trying to pack lighter since we’ll be going to 4 cities and will be flying various airlines with strict baggage restrictions (most of the shopping will be done at the last lag of our trip).  We’ll probably do laundry while we’re there but the fashionista in me (and even my husband) dreads wearing the same outfit multiple times during vacation.   I know its not a big deal, but these pictures will be documented!  LOL!  I know I can remix outfits but I have so many other cute clothes that I want to bring!  So I’ll have to really sit down, try stuff on, and think about that before I decide what I’m bringing.

For now, I going to share what’s in my toiletry bag.  My toiletry bag has gotten progressively HEAVIER since I started traveling.  It probably the heaviest thing in my suitcase.  I didn’t used to be this girly, but when I turned 25 and was traveling for 2 years, I realized that I needed to take better care of my skin both at home and on the road.  With all the flying and the pressurized air, I start to breakout or my skins start to dry, so I need all the help I can get out of my toiletries.  Part two of this post will be to share how I consolidate products for a lighter suitcase.

So what is in my toiletry bag?  Don’t laugh, its a lot of stuff.  And yes I need it all.  Like I said I’ll be consolidating these items into smaller containers which will be shared in part 2 of this post.  Also, keep in mind some of this stuff will be shared with my husband (and possibly placed in his suitcase, I hope!) like the skin products and medicine (watch out for a later post on this) which we hopefully will not need, but it’s good to be prepared.  Most of this stuff can be found at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, or other drugstores.  If not, I’ve linked you below or let you know where you can get these products.

  1. Bumble and Bumble Tonic Shampoo – You could also find these Bumble & Bumble products at Sephora or at beauty salons (depending on if they carry it).
  2. Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo – Yes, I realize I just listed two shampoos.  I use both at one time.  Tonic has tea tree oil which keeps my scalp moisturized and thickening shampoo is to help me out with my limp hair.
  3. Bumble and Bumble Thickening Conditioner
  4. Bumble and Bumble Tonic Spray – I use this as a detangler and scalp moisturizer due to the tea tree oil
  5. Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray – When I blow dry my hair and want voluminous hair.  It also has a heat protectant agent and hair spray in it.
  6. Bumble and Bumble Texturize Creme – Okay go figure, I love me some Bumble and Bumble products.  My hair stylist has gotten me to try them and I love it.  My hair is softer.  I don’t have as much build up in my hair from using other brands.  Anyhow, this creme is what I use to keep my curls in place.  See curling tutorial here.
  7. Lucido Curling Lotion Spray – Can be found on or at Japanese supermarkets in your area.  Also talked about in my curling tutorial.
  8. Tresemme Heat Protection Spray – I use this for days I straighten my hair with a straightener.
  9. Dove Hair Spray – Travel size
  10. Baby Powder – Travel size – I use this as dry shampoo.

  1. St Ives Apricot Scrub – travel size – Even on the road, I exfoliate every other day to take the dead skins cells off.  Your skin is important and you should treat it the same as if you were home.
  2. Aveeno Clear Complexion Cleanser
  3. Boots No.7 Beauty Serum – LOVE this stuff.  Keeps my skin tone look pretty even and has anti-aging powers.  You can find this exclusively at Target.
  4. Garnier Fructis Ultra Lift Anti-Wrinkle Roller Eye Ball – You can never start too soon.
  5. Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets – I keep this in my purse to take care of the shiny spots during the day.
  6. Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment – For the pesky zits that randomly pop up.
  7. Clean & Clear Oil Free Advantage Acne Moisturizer – everyday protection.
  8. Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunscreen in SPF 70
  9. Clinique Pore Minimizer – To minimize the shine throughout the day.  I’m combination/oily to oily during the summer so this along with my laura mercier primer is necessary to keep my make up in place and the oilyness in check.
  10. LaFresh Kit – purchased during a HauteLook sale.  Has Make-up Remover, Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover, Feminine Hygiene, Antibacterial, and Deodorant Wipes. You never know when you’ll need these.

  1. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion
  2. Dove Gentle Exfoliating Soap – I only use Dove and Caress.  Anything else makes my skin ridiculously dry.
  3. Banana Boat Sport Performance Acitve Max Protect in SPF100 Sunscreen – so necessary with all the touristy stuff we’ll be doing outside or even walking.
  4. Skintamate Shaving Cream – travel size
  5. Venus Sensitive Disposable Razors – Although I’m hoping I don’t have to bring this or the shaving cream, as long as the Emjoi Razor I bought comes in before the trip.
  6. OFF insect repellent – Yes, this is needed for one of the cities that we will be going to.
  7. Secret Clinical Strength Sport Deodorant – it’s going to be pretty hot at some of the places we’ll be so this is SO necessary.
  8. Degree Deodorant – travel size – For reapplication or for application to other sweaty prone areas like the back of your knee or arch of your foot.  Don’t judge!  This is a tip I learned from a magazine. Of course, you sanitize the top each time before applying to the various places.

  1. Crest Pro-Health toothpaste
  2. Floss
  3. Toothbrush – This is a foldable toothbrush.  Not the old school ones.
  4. Q-tips – travel size
  5. Extra contacts – because you never know when you contacts ay rip or get ridiculously dry.
  6. Contact lens cleaner
  7. Gucci Envy Me perfume – Can be found at Sephora or any department store.  It’s such a yummy summery smell!
So what’s in your toiletry bag for your summer travel?
