MIA again I know! But May has seriously been crazy. Moving, Vegas for the fight, work trip, Virginia for sister’s grad, etc. INSANE. I promise I do have some goodies for you. Both fashion and food and lifestyle related.
This past weekend the hubs and I flew out to VA for my little sister’s graduation from UVA (and my sister would like me to point out to my readers that it’s the number 2 undergrad b-school in the country 😛 blah blah… you don’t know how much I heard that this past weekend. *rolls eyes). But I’m so proud of her. Getting into UVA alone was hard and then maintaining her grades to keep her scholarship was another challenge.

Anyhow the weekend was GREAT. My in-laws and my beautiful nieces came down the day before graduation to see the hubs and I as well as congratulate my sister. It was nice to see everyone together again since the wedding. All the family time was great. All the food we consumed was great. I did get my Dunkin Donuts, Chick-fil-a and sweet tea fixes, but I didn’t get to eat BBQ (California BBQ is NOT REAL BBQ!) or blue crabs (Dungeness crabs don’t have CRAP on blue crabs. quantity – dungeness versus FLAVOR – blue crabs). Tear ;’-( Maybe during my trip out east next month. Fingers crossed.
The downside of the trip… the usual nasty east coast humidity. AGH. It could’ve been worse like it was during the week of our wedding, so I REALLY shouldn’t complain. BUT my hair was not happy with it all. It was all done up in curls, but my trusty Bumble and Bumble Texture Creme didn’t hold up against the humidity. See the flat curls below. 😦 Another downside… a SERIOUS allergy attack during graduation day. The pollen count was high the last two days of the trip. My eyes and the rest of my body were so itchy and my throat started getting dry and tight. I waited too long to take Claritin and when I did it just made me drowsy that I ended up passing out. Which was fine by me because it stopped me from scratching. STUPID HUMIDITY AND POLLEN! Reasons why I LIKE the left coast – low humidity and the allergy attacks aren’t so bad (I’ve had a couple days here and there but not as bad as when I’m on the east coast).
Anyways, don’t my sister and I look so cute (if I do say so myself). p.s. She has a good 4 inches over me but I’m wearing heels and she is not. She’s my little big sister.
With the beautiful grad.
Dress: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: My dad’s
Necklace: Compilation of a cross pendant from my aunt, a past present future pendant from the hubs, and my dad’s wedding band (I like to call it the men in my life necklace: cross – god, hubs, and my dad)
Bracelets: Vintage from It’s a Girl Thing
Earrings: Gifted from mom
Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren (bought these back in 2007)
I wanted to wear a floral sundress but I just couldn’t find anything last minute and we all know I’m obsessed with stripes, so I ended up getting this dress. Very fitting with the preppiness culture of UVA.
Here’s the completed look… with a retarded pose. The hubs was making me laugh.
As much fun and nice it was to be around my family, it is GREAT to be back on the left coast.
Til next time… which I promise will be sooner rather than later!
